Recommend this book for all the parents out there. It’s a great read and each chapter focuses on a different area to pray over your child(ren). With everything happening in the world today, prayer is more essential than ever, especially for the next generation. I’m a praying mother and go to war for my son, especially in the spirit. When your child is destined, best believe the warfare will be just as intense and your prayers have to be even more relentless. This book is a great guide on praying over your child on another level, no matter the age.

Another recommended book if you’re a curious dreamer. This book is worth reading. For years, I started having intense dreams and visions and didn’t pay much attention to them. Then things I dreamt about ended up happening, and that’s when I realized dreams hold power. More often than not, they're blueprints/previews for what’s to come. This book breaks down which dreams not to ignore and what your dreams may be telling you about the present and/or future.

I'm in a season in my life where I need to rely on my faith more than ever. 2024 was an eye-opening year for me, and 2025 is starting off the same. Though I have moments of doubt, I still manage to hold on to my faith. I once had a conversation with a producer where I shared that I had published my book out of obligation, a promise I made years ago to a former employee. At the time, I didn’t see myself as a writer. I was just working on a passion project that I built upon since age 27. I didn't aspire to become an author. It wasn’t on my radar, bucket list, a desire, or anywhere in my plans. When I put the book out, my mindset was that I kept my promise and could now return to what I was doing. I finally acted on what had been pulling at me for so long and I was good with just that.

The producer quickly set me straight, saying, “From now on, I want you to call yourself a writer because that’s exactly what you are.”

Reflecting on my journey, I realize she was right. I’ve spent over a decade as a professional resume writer, consistently in high demand, with clients paying top dollar for my skills. Beyond that, I’ve built my coaching business by blogging and sharing my experiences in Corporate America, using my writing to inspire and guide others. Going back further, I earned A’s on my college papers no matter the assignment, and even in grade school at such a young age, my reading and writing abilities earned me a feature in the local newspaper.

Now, in my 40s, I’ve connected the dots: writing has always been a core part of who I am. Shifting into creative writing feels new, but in reality, it’s just another way my writing has evolved. That conversation with the producer was a turning point, helping me fully embrace what I’ve known deep down. Sometimes, it takes just one person to shift your perspective. I AM A WRITER!

It’s been a while since I’ve posted. Many of my previous posts have centered around my faith and my dream of adapting my book into a film. While that dream remains a goal, and I’ve made some progress, I can’t ignore the need to lift up prayers 🙏🏽 for those in LA impacted by the recent wildfires. Losing everything and being left with only the clothes on your back can be deeply traumatic, especially without the security of a home or a clear plan forward.

Although I haven’t been directly affected, I have compassion for those who have. May God bless and strengthen everyone facing this adversity, and may you rebuild and rise stronger than ever.

This past August, I traveled to Montego Bay, Jamaica, to celebrate my nephew's 13th birthday. I love that, even at a young age, he values experiences over material things when it comes to celebrating his birthdays.

This vacation was so much different from any other vacations I've been on. We stayed at the resort the entire time, relaxing on the beach, lounging by the pool, enjoying different restaurants, and taking in some shows. This was on repeat each day. Although I’m typically the adventurous type who barely sees the resort while traveling, I must say this was the most refreshing trip I’ve had.

I'm so used to "doing" and in this season of my life, I'm learning how to "rest" and that came about even while on vacation. While this Jamaica trip wasn’t packed with adventure, it reminded me how meaningful it is to slow down and create memories. To me that’s what vacationing is all about — creating unforgettable memories. I then started thinking about past vacations and some of the crazy #Yolo moments I had. 🤔

I still can’t believe I hiked through a safari surrounded by wildlife, swam in a tank with sharks, but ziplining through a ring of fire might just be the wildest thing I’ve done so far! Bungee jumping and skydiving are not off the list just yet.

I recently completed the pilot episode for the adaptation of my book, and I’m quite pleased with the outcome. Throughout the process, I kept emphasizing to the producer my desire for the story to remain authentic and relatable. She challenged me at times, pointing out how things are typically done in the industry when books are adapted into films. I acknowledged those norms but explained that my goal isn’t just to release a film for the sake of having my name attached to it but I want to convey a message that leaves a meaningful impact on viewers.

After thoughtful discussions, she understood my vision, and we reached a happy medium. As we flushed the story, it made me reflect even further on my expectations. I want people to watch the film and see themselves in at least one of the characters or situations. With the drama woven throughout the plot, it has the potential to connect with a broad audience.

While I’m committed to seeing my book adapted into a film, I’m not willing to compromise the core messages I want to convey. If a deal doesn't align with my vision and true purpose, I’d rather walk away than sacrifice the integrity of my story.

What I love about my book “Dismantled Hearts” (shameless plug) is how the characters had no shame in who they were, even if it wasn’t in the best light. Eventually, things came full circle, and some heart changes were made. That’s what authenticity is—being yourself and coming to terms with both the good and the bad, allowing growth and change to happen naturally. I know social media is the place people want to share all the "perfect" highlights of their life but every now and then it's okay to share how you overcame, giving hope to the next person that God can get them through too. 🤷🏽‍♀️

I stepped out my comfort zone and hosted my first employer training with CEO's and managers in this pic. I looked the part but I was broke broke (yup x 2) I was on the verge of losing it all and eventually did a year later. Went from giving up my house to living with my mom to sleeping on my aunt's couch. Food stamps, laid off, car gone, son moved miles away; rock bottom for sure. All for a vision God placed in me to start a business.

Now, I'm a full-time entrepreneur with contracts coming one after another. Not one did I apply for/seek out. CEOs and Directors come to me with their mind made up that I'm it. It's all God!

When you act out of obedience and follow Him, the road will be hard but he won't keep you there and when he brings you out it'll be better than you imagined. No more doubting yourself. It’s time to do the thing He called you to do. You never know what's on the other side!

Sometimes, we're so busy growing and evolving that we forget to pause and appreciate how far we've come. We keep moving forward without acknowledging our own progress. It’s nice when someone notices your growth and doesn’t hesitate to tell you.

The other day, I was on the phone with my cousin, and she was describing me to someone on her end. When she finished, I joked, “Darn sis, you made me sound really good.” She quickly replied that it was all truth and exactly how she felt about me. I smiled, realizing she was giving me my flowers while I’m still here to enjoy them.

What I love about our cousin-sister-bestie relationship is our honesty with each other. We don’t sugarcoat things. When one of us is slipping or wrong about something, we address it directly and hash it out. And when we’re succeeding, we celebrate and uplift each other without hesitation.

When we link up our convos are always centered around God, family, business, health and/or motherhood. We grew up together (2 months apart) and been day 1’s since 2626 N. Heald Street, never forgetting where we came from. These are the kinds of relationships you don't take for granted and people you look out for. #donotowntherightstothemusic

When the unhealed version of oneself comes to the surface, after a while, it's impossible to hide. It shows up in your actions, how you talk and how you carry yourself. You're exposed just by being you. Covering unprocessed emotions and trauma with a band-aid can have damaging consequences. 𝐴 𝑤𝑜𝑟𝑑 𝑡𝑜 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑤𝑖𝑠𝑒: Not every past relationship that resurfaces is a sign that you should get back together. Some people get caught up in social media relationships being fooled into thinking they should return to the past, but what may be meant for others isn't necessarily your story too. Going backward can sometimes do just that—hold you back.

A few months ago, I ran into an ex while out. When we saw each other, it was a brief "hi" and "bye." But then he decided he needed to get some things off his chest and went back down memory lane. I was somewhat caught off guard since I didn't see the need to dwell on the past, which was many years ago. What happened, happened, and we both moved on with our lives. However, he saw this encounter as his chance to say all the things he wished he could've or would've said before.

I listened as he was being completely vulnerable in the moment. I responded with complete vulnerability as well. Long story short, we parted ways with apologies (on his end) taking place and a sense of relief. I realized he gave me the apology I never knew I needed. That chapter was officially closed.

When you think about it, sometimes heartbreaks are blessings in disguise—there's always a method to the madness. It was because of that breakup that I pursued Christ and the best decision I ever made! I’m happy this time around I used discernment, which was something I struggled with many times before.

One thing I’ve learned about grief is that celebrating memories makes the pain a little more manageable. For the last 14 years, my family has celebrated my grandma by declaring her birthday as “Doris Day.” Each year, we come together, whether it's for a balloon release, BBQ, bowling, family field day, or picnic. We share our favorite moments, laugh, and cry, reminiscing about the good ole days.

Her house was the weekend spot. Someone would call and ask, "Where you at?" and I'd be at my grandma's house. Before we knew it, ten or more of us would be there, hanging out with her, watching TV, chilling on the front porch, dancing to music and having a good time.

Her home was spic and span always smelling like Pine Sol and bleach. I used to walk in there ready to pass out from the chemicals. 😅 She was also a great cook. I remember one Thanksgiving when she didn’t feel like it, so I did and made mac and cheese, driving to her house for approval. She stamped her approval and you couldn’t tell me nothing after that.

I’d pick her up on weekends to run errands, and she’d be in the front seat, smiling and bobbing her head to the music. I played 50 Cent’s "Drop and Give Me 50," she told me to turn it up and started doing her little dance.

My grandma, the matriarch, was my girl. I miss hanging out with her. She had a vibrant spirit and did not play at all, I’d like to think she’s who I got my spunk from. Reminiscing about the good times keeps me connected to my roots. Celebrating Doris Day each year is our way of honoring her legacy and keeping the family name alive.

Whatever season you are in, you should enjoy it to the fullest, even if it's uncomfortable because there's something you will need from it that will help you along your life's journey.

I'm now in my resting season and remember praying to God for more time for myself. After years of grinding, I barely had time to do much of anything except make money. I was exhausted, and my outlet was taking a vacation somewhere every few months to recharge.

Now, in my resting season, my everyday life feels like a vacation. Working as an entrepreneur, I have the freedom to plan my days out how I want to. I no longer use an alarm and get to enjoy my coffee in the mornings without being rushed. I set my own work hours and take days off whenever I choose. In addition, working on the treatment pilot episode of my book, and my creative mind is just flowing.

I have time to exercise more and focus on my health with daily morning walks and trying out new workouts like Pilates. My self-care has increased tremendously, and with that comes more self-love.

I cook more, learning new recipes, which has led me on a natural food journey. I spend a lot of time in the kitchen, but I don’t mind because I’m not up against a clock.

During this resting season, I get to spend more time with God and stay in prayer much longer than usual. This is most important to me because it’s because of Him that I’m living in a prayer I once asked for.

I get to show up for family more, helping however I can. It’s been a complete lifestyle change, and I’m not taking this season for granted.

Me, bougie? Not at all. This came up during a recent conversation and I laughed because I sometimes get that from people who have never met me. Anyone who truly knows me or has spent enough time around me knows this is far from the truth. Now, do I have some bougie ways? Maybe so (well, more like yes I do 🤷🏽‍♀️), but overall, that's definitely not me!

Instead of placing labels on people, please get to know them for yourself. What you perceive could be far from the truth. This is why people can’t make new friends—because of perception. If you’ve passed judgment on someone lately, I challenge you to get to know the person for yourself. Once you do, you’ll likely realize that you were wrong all along. You may be missing out on a new friendship that could be a bridge to your destiny in the future, so don’t count people out. Remember, never judge a book by its cover!

In fiction romance novel "𝐷𝑖𝑠𝑚𝑎𝑛𝑡𝑙𝑒𝑑 𝐻𝑒𝑎𝑟𝑡𝑠," there's a scene where competition becomes evident. In this case, it was a secret competition, but it soon came out into the open, triggering jealous behavior that ultimately changed the lives of those involved. Unfortunately, this occurs more often than not, and if a person isn't careful or lacks discernment, they can find themselves unknowingly caught in a destructive cycle without understanding the true source.

One thing I continue to learn about life is that when you operate in God's will—doing what He has called you to do, walking in obedience, and having faith in His promises, you're content with what He has in store for you. You don't want what someone else has because you know God's plan for you is enough.

Each of us has a unique role to play, whether it's raising future leaders, making history, impacting our communities, changing the world, or simply making a difference in our everyday interactions. I recently saw a post where someone referred to themselves as a "recovering party girl," and I laughed because that might describe me too. I’m no longer a party girl, but I do love to have a good time. Life is too short, and I'm going to enjoy every minute of it.

Some people wait for a vacation, a break in their career, more money, a change in relationship status and so forth to be happy, but every moment should be enjoyed. The moments throughout the process should be enjoyed. Even when you encounter turbulence, life should still be enjoyed. When you learn to keep a smile on your face, no matter what, and live in the moment, you will find life much more peaceful and rewarding. You’ll find happiness in the smallest things. Today, stop prolonging your happiness and enjoy the now because every second counts.

This past weekend, I spent hours watching pilot episodes of various series. This was the homework my producer gave me before our next meeting. I've always been a creative, but my passions were something I did on the side. They took a back seat while I worked in corporate and then in consulting/coaching. Now, this has become my new normal, and I love it here. 🤗

I have so many exciting ideas for my soon-to-be-series (yup! still claiming it) and being able to share my thoughts and ideas with others as well as gaining new perspectives is what I'm happy about. Being open-minded is the name of the game in this industry, and that's something I'm used to.

I had to stop and think how I got here. It really feels like it's something I just stumbled in with no real plan or goals; more so just following my inner guide. One moment I'm at vendor events pushing my book in the summer heat and in less than a year I'm working with producers who appreciate my creative writing and excited to work with me to get my series into development. 𝑩𝒆𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒈𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒔, 𝒉𝒖𝒎𝒃𝒍𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒐𝒑𝒆𝒏 𝒕𝒐 𝒓𝒆𝒄𝒆𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒈

One unexpected question I was asked about a character in fiction-romance novel, 𝑫𝒊𝒔𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒍𝒆𝒅 𝑯𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒔, was, "Why did I make her successful?" I tried to understand the logic behind the question but admit I'm still trying to grasp it. 🙄 I responded by explaining that I started the book from the character's current situation, not from where she had been. While her past struggles were briefly highlighted in the book, I wanted to show her evolution rather than keeping her in a state of hardship. This question made me reflect on how some people view success. They often see having nice things and living a prosperous life as negative. I’ve never really understood this. It could be a matter of mindset. I believe there's nothing wrong with having wealth as long as it doesn't control or change you for the worse.

Every few years, God elevates me to a new level, which often includes an increase in income. I am forever grateful for the Lord's provision and continuous prosperity, knowing that He wants us to live fruitful lives. One thing I've noticed about myself and that others often point out is that no matter where I am in life, I remain humble and generous. I love helping others and willing to be a blessing when I can.

I view money as a tool that can be used to make an impact and while I appreciate paying my bills and living comfortably, my greatest fulfillment comes from helping others. A few years back, I was at church and the pastor asked us to hold the hand of the person next to us and speak life into them. I found myself holding the hands of two black girls who were twins, and I began telling them how beautiful they were. Instantly, they both started crying. When I asked why, they told me no one had ever said that to them before. My heart broke. I dug deeper, and they revealed they didn’t believe they were beautiful. Again, my heart broke for them.

Parents, especially moms of black girls, please make it a habit to speak life into your daughters every day, especially reminding them that they are beautiful, so when someone tells them, they believe it. However, I understand that if the mother doesn't see her own beauty, neither will the child. Maybe start with speaking life into yourself first, so much so that you believe it too.

Society (some black men more so but that's a whole other post) has this thing of making black girls feel like they are not the standard not knowing milk, honey, magic and everything else flows through us.

Parents, please place your daughters on a pedestal so that they won't need to seek validation elsewhere. It all starts at home. Just as a PSA reminder: Black girls been it! Always have and always will be! #donotownrightstomusic

Some time ago, I was leaving work to go out to lunch. I exited the elevator and remembered waving to the guard at the front desk and minutes later, I was on the floor with people standing over me, yelling my name. I passed out in the front lobby. I literally blacked out for a few minutes. I was taken to the hospital and the doctor told me that my body couldn't take it anymore and gave up on me.

At the time, I was doing so much as a full-time student, working a high-paced job, caring for my son, etc. I was up all hours and rarely got any sleep. I wasn't eating right and lived off 5-hour energy drinks and coffee. I was beating my body down and not even realizing it.

From that point on, I prioritized self-care and put myself first. I listen to my body and when I need to slow down, I do just that. Many people tend to think working day and night is the only way to reach your goals, and I learned that it’s just not true. Taking care of yourself and getting the necessary rest is actually the key to being effectively productive and reaching your goals.

Whenever I feel the need to take a break, hitting the beach is one of my go-tos. Sometimes I'm by myself, and other times with friends and family. Either way, I relax for the day and leave rejuvenated, ready to get my head back in the game.

In the final chapter of fiction-romance novel "𝐷𝑖𝑠𝑚𝑎𝑛𝑡𝑙𝑒𝑑 𝐻𝑒𝑎𝑟𝑡𝑠" reflection and gratitude took center stage. Despite enduring turbulence, some of the characters experienced a shift in life. The book had many rough moments, so it was important to highlight the good times and showcase how challenges led to resilience and personal growth, particularly for the main characters. This part of the book prompted me to reflect on and appreciate what I am grateful for in my own life.

𝗙𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆

Every day, I wake up with a grateful heart, and it's something I truly pride myself on. I don't go a day without thanking the Lord for waking me up and for life itself. It truly is a blessing, and some people don't realize it until they lose someone close. In 2022, my family experienced 3 significant losses and it was a hard time for us all. The youngest was my 22-year-old cousin and it breaks my heart that she's no longer here with us. Before this, I already believed that life is short and should be lived to the fullest, but these deaths have pushed me to live life even more and not just exist.

I'm grateful for family and how God has kept us so close-knit through the years, especially after the passing of the matriarchs on both sides and the more recent deaths. Happy Father's to my dad! The man who instilled in my sisters and I that having a good work ethic is important. I remember growing up in the back of his delivery trucks sliding back and forth with boxes 📦 falling all over us. 🤣 All his customers on his route knew who we were because he always had us with him. No matter what, he was always working and anything we asked for, he gave us!

Fast forward to now, the motto I live by: "You want, you work, you get!" Having faith is great but without the works, you're basically just wishing on a star. In fiction-romance novel, 𝐷𝑖𝑠𝑚𝑎𝑛𝑡𝑙𝑒𝑑 𝐻𝑒𝑎𝑟𝑡𝑠, there were moments when characters relied on their inner guide for decision-making and judgment. Some of the characters got it right, and others, well, not so much. For instance, one character had a gut feeling about her relationship, acting on impulse without hard evidence, she triggered a spiral of avoidable events. Unfortunately, what she felt all along turned out to be true and the plot continued to thicken after that revelation. This narrative highlights how the character listened to her inner guide, but her decision-making based on intuition wasn't the most appropriate behavior, resulting in a toxic course of events.

In my career, I progressed through the corporate ranks pretty quickly. By the time I was 26, I was managing a team of 20+ and continued to excel. At some point, there was a time when I had to listen to my inner guide. I worked for a boss who was the worst. He stole my ideas and posed them as his own. When it came to women, he had zero respect, and it was becoming a problem within the department. His behavior was blatant, and he didn't bother to hide it. He was prideful and dared anyone to challenge him.

One day, I reached my breaking point. I packed all my belongings and made the decision to walk out and quit. I headed to the door and this small voice spoke to me and told me to turn around. Attended my first book club. Had a great time chatting it up with these ladies about fiction-romance novel, 𝐷𝑖𝑠𝑚𝑎𝑛𝑡𝑙𝑒𝑑 𝐻𝑒𝑎𝑟𝑡𝑠. They did not hold back, not one bit. The first questions asked was about the erotic scenes. 🤷🏽‍♀️

I remember struggling with this when writing the book. It was either go hard or go home. I decided not to hold back. I turned the heat up up! One of the reasons I chose not to put my first name on the book. 😫🫣

Now, here I am at this book club being asked about what I tried to be somewhat discreet about. Well, not anymore! 🙅🏽‍♀️ As women we are taught to be prim and proper and some of us are, but let's not deny the fact that we are also sexual beings with desires, passions and feelings that drives the power to feel and connect. If within the right context, there's no limit to where one can go. Don't hold back the truest, authentic version of yourself because of who you molded in your mind you should be.

You can still volunteer at shelters, sing on the choir, be super mom and so forth, all while living out your sexual desires and fantasies within the context of your relationship (marriage). Now, if your mind begins to shift to desires outside of just you two, then you may be in trouble and need to reevaluate the root. Nevertheless, if operating from the right mindset be open, be honest, be you and explorrrre!

On another note, we talked about so much more and they gave great feedback and suggestions for the soon-to-be series (yup, still claiming it!) I took in all their advice and excited about what's to come!

I started writing fiction romance novel, Dismantled Hearts 17 years ago. I really had no intention of writing a book. At the time, I was at home bored and decided to get on my computer and type. As I was writing, the characters started playing out in my head, the words then began to flow, and the plot emerged one chapter after another. After just a few months, I had an almost completed manuscript.

Years passed and I forgot about the book but after having a conversation with one of my former employees, she challenged me to complete what I started. From that point, I finally finished writing my manuscript, but years passed once again, and the book continued to sit idle.

In 2021, I finally decided to take the leap and hired a mentor, editor, and others to help me throughout each phase of the process. Now the time has come, and I am officially a published author!

My expectation for readers is that this love story uplifts, inspires and gives you hope as well as the strength to overcome challenges while on your own journey!
